On June 29, 2020, three tech startups from Kyrgyzstan start their journey with Ignite 2020 programme of the University of Cambridge Judge Business School.
This is the first time in Ignite’s 20 years that entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan are participating. This opportunity was granted to Kyrgyzstan as a result of the strategic partnership between the Cambridge Judge Business School in the United Kingdom and the PEAK Enterprise and Innovation Programme in Kyrgyzstan, funded by UK Aid from the United Kingdom’s Government.
Under this partnership, all PEAK Kyrgyzstan’s programme graduates will be invited annually to apply for the Ignite programme. For Ignite 2020, applications were submitted by the three interested graduates of the PEAK’s first Tech Accelerator Programme: Fanki (Mirlan Dzhumagulov); Lavanda (Nikita Nischuk); and SMM Bonus (Alexandra Puzikova). All the three applicants successfully passed interviews with the Ignite selection committee and were enrolled to Ignite 2020 along with 70 other applicants from all over the world.
Ignite is an intensive, one-week training programme for aspiring entrepreneurs and corporate innovators to validate the commercial feasibility of a business plan and better define and shape its potential for success. The schedule comprises lectures, workshops and practical mentorship sessions. There are set themes for each day, ranging from Marketing and Business Models to Building Teams and Finance. The mentors and MBA facilitators guide delegates through the preparation of strong business cases for a presentation to a panel of investors and entrepreneurs at the end of the course.
So far, over 747 participants from 26 countries across Europe, Asia and America have attended Ignite since the programme started. Ignite 2020 is the 21st edition of the programme and is being run virtually this year. It is estimated that approximately 170+ business ventures have been created by Ignite alumni and are still up and running.
